Tasked with doing a flyer for Envelope’s “Samhain” event. We usually do a bit of visioning beforehand about concept, but no one had time or drive to do this. I looked at inspo of some heavy metal posters and was drawn to a heavy perspective shot of an elf in armor: in particular I thought the sword widening with the forced perspective was really striking, and this kind of forced perspective was a concept I wanted to practice. (Fwiw, the final result did not end up with the kind of exaggerated effect I was looking for, but since people liked the teaser so much and G. said that it probably wasn’t worth it to correct, I didn’t attempt to go back and do proper perspective.) ...

This echoing effect over time is one of the things I’m really drawn to regarding aerial movements (which I’m most drawn to in multicordes, where you can see in the reverberations of the cordes, and other spinning apparatuses), and I wanted to emphasize that digitally. I wanted to use a video capture of my recent multicordes performance at KAC (recorded by Lucy) to generate a trail effect of movement to explore this concept. ...

Performance at Kinetic Arts’ Summer Circus Celebration was good despite my act being quite unpolished (I finished it a week before). This was my first time performing multicordes in about 3 years. Apparatus changes I was excited to develop a spinning concept for the first time (this required that I change the hardware from a straight bar and tune the height of the cordes: ideally the cordes are just above the ground so friction doesn’t degrade spinning over time). ...

Made this after a Fleet Ilya piece that isn’t in production anymore but that I’ve always really admired. This was my first time developing a leather bra and it took just a few iterations. I altered the original FI design to allow the bra and the corset to be worn either separately or together. I tried to oil-dye jute for the back rope, and that did not go well at all because I used dip-dyeing and the rope has still not shed its excess oil after hours of buffing. I ended up just using plain jute for Fait’s Folsom performances. ...
