as leeann’s been publishing a bit more, i mentioned i wanted to do some updated author photos (since i did her first author photos awhile ago, when i was a much more novice photographer, and wanted to update them).

tried to do some projection work here; i think the flatness of the projector was not very flattering to the subject’s face (or maybe it has to be pointed at just the right way, to get shadows to fall in just the right way).

the attempts i had to project a glitched-out white line on her face looked quite unnatural; like clown makeup or like some physical object was on her face.

i ended up supplementing with some diffuse lights quite close to her face that ended up looking alright, but were a bit improvised (since i had to match the intensity of the projector, these were cheaper video lights or lamps that had gels on them).

backdrop could’ve been cleaner and saved a lot of distraction with post-processing… i really need a white paper backdrop or to build a cyclorama wall.
